Carlos Guerra is a professional with over 30 years of combined experience in the international, public and private sector as executive, advisor, university professor, as well as in the diplomatic arena.
Presently, Mr. Guerra serves as Enterprise Florida’s Manager of International Investment & Logistics responsible for promoting Florida as the primary hub for foreign direct investment and assist potential investors. He is also in charge of the logistics sector, a key industry of the state. He previously served as Enterprise Florida’s International Trade Development Manager, assisting local companies in their exports and global expansion needs. He has participated and collaborated in the organization of various international export missions and trade shows domestically and abroad.
Before joining EFI, Mr. Guerra spent more than twelve years in the logistics industry, working as International Market Analyst, Sales and Traffic executive at Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV), Miami office, the largest container shipping company in Latin America and one of the oldest in the world. He also became partner and International Development Director at an NVOCC company in Miami, spearheading, among other initiatives, the opening of the new company’s offices in Chile. In the public sector, he worked as international analyst at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile in Santiago, and later he was appointed Chancellor of the Chilean Consulate in Philadelphia. Parallel to his executive responsibilities, Mr. Guerra has developed a productive academic activity locally and abroad. He has taught, designed and re-designed course programs on Latin America studies, global affairs, small business development and international logistics. He is currently teaching graduate and under-graduate courses at Millennia Atlantic University (MAU), City of Doral, Florida.
Mr. Guerra has been the recipient of a number of recognitions and honors, including the Internal Revenue Service Mid-Atlantic Region for his Outstanding Contribution to the Equal Employment Opportunity Program; elected Numerary Member for Life by the International Association of Scholars of Toledo, Spain; appointed Member of the Board of Directors of the Chile-U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Miami chapter; Mayor’s distinction as pianist and businessman for his contribution to the development of the community’s culture, City of Mulchen, Chile.
Mr. Guerra graduated from Education with a specialization in History and Geography, and holds an Advanced Professional Course in International Relations, both from Concepcion University, in Chile. He also graduated from the M.A. Program in Political Science and International Relations at the Catholic University of Chile and holds a M.A. in International Administration from University of Miami. He has continued his studies in prestigious academic centers, including Oxford University in UK; Temple University, Philadelphia; and St. Thomas University, Miami, among others. Furthermore, he has attended several trainings, courses and conferences held by the U.S Trade and Development Agency, Department of Commerce; U.S. Customs and Border Patrol; National Cargo Bureau; United Nations-Economic Commission for
Latin America & the Caribbean; Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida; Ministry of Economy-National Planning Office Santiago, Chile, among many other private and public institutions. Mr. Guerra has intensively traveled and is fluent in English, Spanish and has knowledge of Italian and Portuguese.
In addition to his professional career, Mr. Guerra is an accomplished pianist developing a profound and long-lasting bond with music since his childhood. Based on this experience, he crafted a unique presentational model on innovation, linking music, business, creativity and motivation, performing locally and abroad. An adapted version of this model was presented at the 2017-National Conference of the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), Drexel University, Philadelphia PA.
